Teams of 1-4 UConn ECE Italian students from across the state come together at the UConn Storrs Campus to participate in academic sessions with UConn Italian Department teaching assistants (TAs) in the morning and compete in a Jeopardy-style quiz in the afternoon. Academic sessions reflect the interests of the TAs and range from Italian literature, cinema, history, and culture to Italian cuisine and sports. UConn ECE Italian Faculty Coordinator and Associate Professor In-Residence of Italian, Tina Chiappetta-Miller, moderates the afternoon quiz bowl, speaking only in Italian. All day long students have the opportunity to be culturally immersed in the language by practicing their speaking and pronunciation, tuning their ears to new voices speaking Italian, learning about Italian culture, and interacting with other Italian-speaking Connecticut high schoolers.
