Three day professional development for faculty and students

pierce-leggOn July 16-18, UConn ECE hosted the third annual Biology Summer Institute with a focus on bioenergetics. This was the first time that UConn ECE Students were invited to attend along with UConn ECE Biology Faculty. Twelve students and seven faculty attended the event representing seven high schools throughout the State – Lyme-Old Lyme High School, Sports & Medical Science Academy (Hartford), Somers High School, Stamford High School, The Williams School (New London), Westbrook High School, and Wilton High School. This exclusive and purposefully intimate experience was designed to get faculty and students into lectures and the lab. UConn professors,Nathan Alder (MCB), Victoria Robinson (MCB) (), and David Perry (Physics) offered three coordinated day-long seminar and lab sessions which strengthened the resources for our UConn ECE adjuncts in teaching Biology 1107/1108 and exposed students to the dynamic and emerging field of bioenergetics. This event was co-sponsored by UConn’s College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.
