UConn Library Access
On-campus library access is already available to instructors,
students and student groups in Early College Experience
. We encourage library visits. However, instructors who
wish to bring students to the library should call the Early
College Experience office in advance. The library needs
time to prepare for large groups. If a class is coming to
the library for a specific assignment, it is helpful for
the library staff to know in advance in order to better
facilitate the process. This prior planning will insure
that the experience will be productive. The same procedure
should be followed for visits to regional campus library
facilities. Important:
School Group Form Required
ECE Instructors and ECE Students have a NetID which allows
them remote access to the UConn libraries. Online journals,
databases, and interlibrary loans can all be accessed online.
You must first set-up a Proxy account, which allows you as
a registered ECE affiliate to use these resources. (See E-Journal
section below)

Electronic Journal Access (E-Journals)
The University of Connecticut is a Research-I University
with access to thousands of academic journal articles. These
resources are online and are known as E-journals. (Link
to Online Resources)
ECE Faculty and students with NetIDs can access these journals
from their home or work computer with little set-up. There
are two different ways to get the same access. The first,
a Proxy Account changes your browser settings so you can
access University benefits. The second, a VPN Account (Virtual
Private Network) using a "patch" method to connect your computer
to the UConn Network. Both work equally well, you should
use the service that you prefer.
You can find directions to create
a "Proxy
Account" at:

A VPN Account is often a quicker and less daunting
process. You can find-out more about the VPN system and
set-up your account at:
