A completed application packet is required for certification. A certification application packet consists of:

  • An application form (download here)
  • A detailed cover letter that describes the applicant's relevant background and qualifications
  • Résumé
  • Two letters of recommendation (preferably from the applicant's high school principal and department head. If the applicant is the department head, a recommendation letter from a colleague would be accepted).
  • Official undergraduate and graduate transcripts
  • A proposed course syllabus for each course the applicant is applying to teach.
    • Sample syllabi are listed on this website under the Courses & Disciplines link. It is highly recommended that the applicant review the sample syllabus and tailor their proposed syllabus accordingly.
    • It is possible to teach Advanced Placement and UConn Early College Experience courses concurrently. When doing so, it is important that UConn ECE instructors adhere to the same curriculum that is being taught at the University of Connecticut. This may differ from the applicant's syllabus used during the Advanced Placement syllabus audit.
